McComas Rhodes² (Alex.¹) was born February 16, 1814 in Memphis, Shelby County, Tennessee, and died November 30, 1879 in Ramsey, Fayette County, Illinois. He married Sally Ann Harris, daughter of Ancil Mancil Harris³ (Zach², Isaac¹) and Keziah Veatch, on March 25, 1841 in Fayette County, Illinois. She was born June 13, 1824 in Humphreys County, Tennessee, and died Feb 17, 1845 in Fayette County, Illinois. They had no children. He and his second wife, Sarah Jane Cole, daughter of John Cole and Rutha Caroline Conner, were married on December 1, 1846 in Fayette County, Illinois. She was born in Henderson County, Tennessee in about 1830; she was 40 years of age when the 1870 census for Fayette County, Illinois was taken. She died October 17, 1900 at age 71 years, 10 months, and 19 days. They were living in Hurricane Township, Fayette County, Illinois when the censuses were taken in 1860, 1870 and 1880.

James Asberry "Berry" Rhodes³ (McComas², Alex.¹) was born in May 1852 in Fayette County, Illinois. He died there on February 7, 1905, and was buried in Little Hickory Cemetery, Hurricane Township, Fayette County, Illinois. He was married twice. His first marriage was to Mary Jane Cole, daughter of William O. Cole and Rebecca Jane Harris⁴ (Ancil M.³, Zach², Isaac¹). They were married January 28, 1875 in Fayette County, Illinois. Her children are listed under her name in Part VIII, Chapter 2.4, Descendants of Rebecca Jane Harris.

After her death, he married Telithew Jane Culbertson, daughter of John Thomas Culbertson and Mary Pope, on September 25, 1884 in Fayette County, Illinois. She was born April 18, 1857 in Ramsey, Fayette County, Illinois, and died there on April 15, 1940, and was buried in Liberty Cemetery, Fayette County, Illinois. She was married previously to Campbell C. Harris; and, after James Asberry Rhodes's death, she married John William Rhodes, son of Eliott Wilburn Rhodes² (Alex.¹) and Martha Jane Hicks⁴ (Cath. Harris³, Wooten², Isaac¹). They had no children.

   OBITUARY OF HOMER E. RHODES Homer E. Rhodes, 83, of Edwardsville, formerly of Bingham, died Tuesday Dec. 26 in St. Elizabeth Hospital in Belleville. Funeral services were at 11 a.m. Friday in Lesley-Marks Funeral Home, Edwardsville with burial in Calvary Cemetery, Edwardsville. Mr. Rhodes was born in Fayette County, son of James and Telithew Rhodes. Surviving are sons, Lowell of Clinton, Earl of Royalton, and Ronald of Pekin; daughters Mrs. George (Pauline) Forbus, Vandalia, Mrs. Maurice (Dorothy) Thompson, Pekin, Mrs. Sharon Peterson, Knoxville, Tenn; brothers, Thurman and Rufus, both of Iowa; sisters, Ada May Morris, Rochelle, Ida Belle Lindhorst, Pana, 27 grandchildren and 34 great grandchildren.
