Elizabeth Harris3 (Reuben2, Isaac1) was born in Greenville County, South Carolina in about 1793; she was 57 years of age when the DeKalb County, Tennessee 1850 Census was taken. She married Zachariah Kirkland who was born in North Carolina, and was 60 years of age in 1850. The family was included in the Jackson County, Tennessee 1820 Census enumeration. At that time, they had four children - two sons and two daughters who were under the age of ten years. They were living in McDonough County, Illinois on June 11, 1832 when Zachariah Kirkland enrolled in the service to fight in the Black Hawk War. He was mustered out on September 4, 1832 at the same place. They returned to Tennessee and settled in DeKalb County, Tennessee, before the 1850 census was taken. DeKalb County was formed from White County, in 1837-8. They had other children which have not been identified. |
