Matthews, son of Greenberry Matthews and Melinda Fox, on January 15, 1857, in Fayette County, Illinois. He was born July 25, 1836, in Hopkins County, Kentucky. Both Frances and George were buried in Little Hickory Cemetery, Hurricane Township, Fayette County, Illinois.

Thomas G. Matthews⁵ (Frances Hicks⁴, Cath. Harris³, Wooten², Isaac¹) was born February 25, 1860 in Fayette County, Illinois, and died January 25, 1923. He married Nancy Ann Davidson, daughter of Adley Davidson and Lucinda Spears, on August 12, 1880 in Montgomery County, Illinois. She was born April 5, 1862, and died October 9, 1947. They were buried in Little Hickory Cemetery, Hurricane Township, Fayette County, Illinois. They were living in Hurricane Township, Fayette County, Illinois when the 1900 and 1910 censuses were taken. In 1900, Nancy had four children of whom two were living. In 1910, she had six children and three were living.

He married Mary Leona Skeen, daughter of William Skeen and Martha Robinson, on August 2, 1883 in Fayette County, Illinois. She was born April 20, 1864 in Illinois, and died October 15, 1952. James and Mary were buried in Little Hickory Cemetery, Fayette County, Illinois. They were living in Hurricane Township, Fayette County, Illinois when the censuses were taken in 1900 and 1910.
