Frances Harris3 (Wooten2, Isaac1) was born June 14, 1793, in that section of Burke County, North Carolina, that became part of Rutherford County after 1795. She married Jonathan Alexander Cook on December 25, 1811, in Rutherford County, North Carolina. He was born October 20, 1793, in North Carolina. They moved to Tennessee in about 1818 at the same time as the rest of the Harris family. At first they were living in Hickman County, but when Wayne County was formed from Hickman County in 1819, their home was in that county. Later, shortly before 1830, the Harris clan moved to Illinois. Jonathan and Frances Cook made their home in Christian County where Frances died on March 23, 1864. Jonathan Alexander Cook died December 27, 1876, in Sharon Township, Fayette County, Illinois. The birth and death dates of Frances and Jonathan Cook and their children and some of their grandchildren were found in the Cook Family Bible which was published in the Fayette County Genealogical Society Quarterly, Fayette Facts, Vol. VIII, No. 3, p. 63. |

Sarah "Sally" Cook4 (Frances Harris3, Wooten2, Isaac1) was born December 3, 1812, in Rutherford County, North Carolina. She married Jonathan Kelley on September 9, 1831, in Fayette County, Illinois. He was the son of John Kelley and Mary Whitesides of Rutherford County, North Carolina. His brother, William Russell Kelley, married Florella M. Halford, the daughter of Elizabeth Harris and Andrew Halford. (See Early Settlers of Sangamon County, Illinois by John C. Power, p. 425.) Jonathan Kelley died June 23, 1873; his wife, Sarah, died in 1900. They were buried in Kelley Cemetery, Curran Township, Sangamon County, Illinois. |

John C. Kelley4 (Frances Harris3, Wooten2, Isaac1) was born March 27, 1837, and died in 1925. He was buried in Old Salem Cemetery, Gardner Township, Sangamon County, Illinois. He was married twice. His first wife was Emily J. Kellums, and his second wife was Mary J. Woods. |

Benjamin Harris Cook4 (Frances Harris3, Wooten2, Isaac1) was born June 13, 1818, in Wayne County, Tennessee. His date of birth was recorded in the Cook Family Bible. He married his first wife Elzira Kelley, daughter of William Kelley and Dicey Ann Cook, on November 3, 1836, in Sangamon County, Illinois. She was born in Rutherford County, North Carolina, in 1819, and died March 14, 1861 in Sharon Township, Fayette County, Illinois. After her death, Benjamin married Emeline "Emily" (Burris) Naples November 7, 1861, in Fayette County, Illinois. She was born in Indiana in about 1828; she was age 42 according to the Sefton Township, Fayette County, Illinois 1870 Census. Benjamin died November 29, 1881 in Fayette County, Illinois. He and his first wife, Elzira, were buried in Cook Cemetery, Shafter Township, Fayette County, Illinois. Her birth and death dates were found on her tombstone there. |

James W. Cook5 (Benjamin H4., Frances Harris3, Wooten2, Isaac1) was born in 1840 in Sharon Township, Fayette County, Illinois. He married his first wife, Anne Frances Grissell, August 8, 1861, in Fayette County, Illinois. The family has no knowledge of her or if she had any children. He and his second wife, Mary Catherine [Garrett] Brown, daughter of Isbell Garrett and Lisa Dodson, were married July 31, 1879, in Fayette County, Illinois. She was born in March, 1844, according to the 1900 census of Montgomery County, Illinois, but tombstone dates in Old Hurricane Cemetery are 1840-1932. This was her third marriage. She was previously married to Robert Merriman on March 22, 1859. He was killed in a sawmill accident on April 24, 1860. Her second husband, Cornelius S. Brown, deserted her. James W. Cook died in February, 1888, at age 48, and was buried in the Whitten (Old Hurricane) Cemetery, Fayette County, Illinois. Mary married a fourth time to Wilson Merriman, son of Dempsey Merriman and Matilda Scribner, on December 14, 1892, in Montgomery County, Illinois. Wilson Merriman was born May 2, 1852, and died August 20, 1929, and was buried in Stokes Cemetery, located near Fillmore, Montgomery County, Illinois. |

William Thomas Cook4 (Frances Harris3, Wooten2, Isaac1) was born August 19, 1823, in Wayne County, Tennessee. He died March 13, 1879 in Sharon Township, Fayette County, Illinois and was buried in Cook Cemetery, there. He married Minerva Riley, daughter of Barnabus Riley and Margaret McKenzie. She was born in about 1827 in Fayette County, Illinois. She was age 23 in 1850. They had two children. He married a second wife, Mary Mahala Hinton, daughter of William and Elizabeth Hinton, on February 20, 1855, in Fayette County, Illinois. Her tombstone in Browning Cemetery, Fayette County, Illinois, gives her death date as December 21, 1888, age 51y 7m 1d. Her birthdate was computed to be May 20, 1837. She was age 13 in the 1850 census report for Fayette County, Illinois, which also listed her birthplace as Illinois. The family was living in Fayette County, Illinois when the censuses were taken in 1870, 1880, and 1900. |

John Wesley Cook5 (William T.4, Frances Harris3, Wooten2, Isaac1) was born in July 1847 in Illinois. He married Sarah Jane Orr on September 1, 1874 in Christian County, Illinois. She was born in November 1855 in Morgan County, Illinois. They were living in Buckhart Township, Christian County, Illinois in 1880, and in Locust Township, Christian County, Illinois in 1900. |

Barnabus Riley Cook5 (William T.4, Frances Harris3, Wooten2, Isaac1) was born January 3, 1851, in Sangamon County, Illinois. He married Ruth Arminda Wilson, daughter of John B. Wilson and Elizabeth Sears, on August 25, 1872, in Montgomery County, Illinois. She was born in April, 1851, according to the Christian County, Illinois 1900 census, Buckhart Township, Edinberg Village. When that census was taken she had eleven children of whom eight were living. Children's names are from the 1880 and 1900 census records of Christian County, Illinois. Complete birthdates are from Christian County birth records. |

Jonathan Wilson Cook4 (Frances Harris3, Wooten2, Isaac1) was born July 22, 1834, in Christian County, Illinois. He married Jemima Sutley who was born in March, 1837. He died in 1904 and she died in 1908. They were buried in Edinberg Cemetery, Christian County, Illinois. |

John Wesley Cook4 (Frances Harris3, Wooten2, Isaac1) was born June 9, 1838, in Christian County, Illinois. He married Lucy Caroline Halford, daughter of William Smith Halford4 (Elizabeth Harris3, Wooten2, Isaac1) and Elizabeth Sears, on April 26, 1860, in Fayette County, Illinois. They had eight children whose birthdates were included in the Cook Family Bible. Lucy died March 28, 1899. He married a second wife, Sarah Humphrey on May 29, 1901, in Christian County, Illinois. She was born about 1857; she was age 44 in 1901, when she and John Wesley Cook were married. They had no children. |
